Apple to Unveil Touchscreen MacBook on October 27
Apple is preparing a second event in October to introduce new products. According to Bloomberg, the event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, or around that date, with the first touchscreen MacBook as the main highlight. The upcoming event has also been reported by Engadget and GSMArena.
The launch, as per Bloomberg, will include an online video presentation as well as an in-person segment for journalists. The event will target creative professionals involved in video production, photo editing, and music production. Bloomberg compares it to the October 2024 Mac launch, where selected journalists were able to test the devices in Los Angeles.
Touchscreen MacBook and Other Announcements
According to Bloomberg, the following products are expected to be unveiled:
- the first 14- and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro models with OLED displays, featuring Dynamic Island for the first time and significantly lighter than current versions,
- a new iPad mini with an OLED display, a relocated FaceTime camera, and a redesigned speaker system,
- new iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro models with the M6 chip, which will resemble their current designs.
Sources differ on the chips to be used. Bloomberg reports that the touchscreen MacBook Pro models will be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Engadget notes speculation that a professional version of the new M6 chip may not yet be available, meaning the devices could instead use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Meanwhile, Bloomberg and GSMArena refer to the new MacBook Pro models generally as featuring M6 chips.
Smart Home Event Coming First
Apple has already announced a separate event titled Welcome home for next week. According to GSMArena, Engadget, and Bloomberg, the October 13 event will focus on smart home products and devices.
