iPhone 18 Pro Colors: Gurman Reveals Four Shades and Details on iPhone Duo
Just hours before Apple's "Surprise and Shine" presentation, the latest leaks are coming in. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the iPhone 18 Pro will be available in four color variants, while the first foldable iPhone will be named iPhone Duo and is expected to hit the market no earlier than October.
iPhone 18 Pro Colors: Four Shades Instead of Three
Gurman reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be available in four colors: Black, Light Blue, Silver, and Burgundy. Last year, the iPhone 17 Pro had only three shades, and Black was not among them.
Earlier speculations mentioned a new color, Dark Cherry, and Light Blue for this year's model. Some sources claimed that the third shade would be Silver, while others suggested Black. Gurman has now confirmed all four colors.
This differs from the mock-ups released by Sonny Dickson in May, which showed the iPhone 18 in Black, Silver, Dark Cherry, and Light Blue. Gurman replaces Dark Cherry with Burgundy.
iPhone Duo: The First Foldable iPhone
According to Gurman, Apple has chosen the name iPhone Duo for its first foldable phone. It will be unveiled at the Wednesday event, which starts at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
The base version with 256GB of storage is expected to cost $2,000, while the highest configuration will be around $3,000. Variants with 512GB and 1TB of storage will also be available. According to MacRumors, the iPhone Duo will come in two colors: white and dark blue. However, Gizmodo points out that speculation has not yet agreed on whether it will be white and black or dark blue.
Sales are expected to begin no earlier than October, as Gurman stated. The foldable iPhone will feature an external display of approximately 5.5 inches and an internal screen around 7.8 inches. It will be the thinnest iPhone, with a thickness of just over 4 millimeters.
Interestingly, the iPhone Duo will not have Face ID. Instead, it will feature Touch ID embedded in the side button. The hinge of the phone will be made from aluminum and titanium.
More Details on iPhone 18 Pro
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will retain screen sizes of 6.3 and 6.9 inches, just like last year's models. Both will be equipped with the A20 chip, featuring improved image processing and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max may receive an exclusive feature in the form of a variable aperture for the main camera. Dynamic Island, according to available information, will not disappear but will be smaller and offer enhancements.
Gurman also mentioned that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a mechanical aperture, which may not be available on the smaller model. Additionally, a redesigned vapor chamber for cooling and a smaller Dynamic Island that can display up to three live activities instead of two are expected.
When Will Pre-Orders Start?
According to leaker ShrimpApplePro, pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo will begin on September 12 at the usual time, which is 5:00 AM Pacific Time. This is a day later than usual due to the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
