Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: 8,500 mAh, 200MP cameras and privacy screen

Xiaomi has unveiled its flagship smartphones Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China. Both new models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip, feature a pair of 200MP Leica cameras and introduce a privacy screen feature. The manufacturer describes this as hardware-based display privacy protection. The phones went on sale in China on September 23.

According to 9to5google and mymobileindia, the larger model gets a chip variant labeled Extreme. Both outlets also agree on the battery capacity of the Pro Max, which is 8,500 mAh.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: specs and battery life

According to 9to5google, the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 7,000 mAh battery. Both versions support 100W wired and 27W wireless charging.

According to mymobileindia, the Super Pixel Display 2.0 panels have a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and bezels measuring 0.99 mm. The system is HyperOS 4.

Privacy screen and cameras

According to The Verge, cited by 9to5google, the privacy screen feature can turn on by itself. The front camera detects curious onlookers nearby, and another trigger is location-based, so the protection activates in crowded public spaces without any action from the user.

According to mymobileindia, the 200MP telephoto has a 75 mm focal length, an f/2.4 aperture and 3.2× optical zoom, and can handle macro shots from as close as 12 cm. The main sensor measures 1/1.28 inches, while the periscope telephoto is 1/1.56 inches.

Price and availability

According to 9to5google, the series starts at 5,999 CNY, roughly 900 dollars. Xiaomi has not yet announced international prices. However, the company confirmed that the Pro models will appear outside China this time, unlike the Xiaomi 17 Pro. The Pro Max is also sold in a transparent version.
